Important Information for Residential and Business Property Owners 

For safety purposes, before starting any project that requires ground excavation, the property owner (or their contractor) must contact 811 to request that underground utilities be located and marked.

Silicon Valley Power (SVP), the City of Santa Clara's Electric Department, provides mark and locate services for electrical infrastructure owned by SVP, up to the point of interconnection with the residential or business property owner. The residential or business property owner is responsible for procuring mark and locate services for their privately owned segment of underground electrical facilities.

SVP provides the following:

• Residential locates: up to secondary distribution box
• Commercial locates for sub-1000V interconnections: up to transformer
• Commercial locates for 1000V+ interconnections: up to switchgear
