Renewable Energy

Renewable Energy from Local Producers

The LCRE Program is a voluntary pilot rider to enable large SVP customers to purchase supplemental Renewable Energy (RE) above the amount of RE already included in SVP’s energy delivery portfolio. Supplemental RE under this Program will be California Energy Commission (CEC) Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) Certified Content Category 1 (commonly known as PCC 1) bundled energy as described in California Public Utilities Code Section 399.16 (b).

Annual Open Enrollment Period

The Open Enrollment Period for the 2026 program year is now closed. The annual open enrollment period for subsequent years will be September 1 - September 30. During the Annual Open Enrollment Period, SVP will update the LCRE participation price for the upcoming program year.

Each Program Year begins on January 1 and ends on December 31.

Go Above and Beyond California's Goal

Two Ways to Participate

Customers can decide to cover 80% or 100% of their monthly energy usage.

Full-Service Option A: Customers can elect a level of supplemental RE up to 100% of their annual energy usage. SVP procures supplemental RE for customers in one (1) year terms (Program Year begins on January 1 and ends on December 31). SVP will provide certification that the RE is generated from specified eligible renewable projects in California, or delivered directly to a California Balancing Authority.

Current Option A Participation Price: The indictive price of PCC1 Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) for the upcoming 2026 Program Year is $25/MWh.

SVP’s RPS goal for the upcoming compliance year is 50% for 2026.

Bring-Your-Own Option B: Customers provide their own RE resource under a five (5) year or ten (10) year term Customer Agreement with SVP. Customers remain full-service SVP customers but can either develop their own RE facility or obtain RE from a third party. SVP will pay customers SVP’s avoided costs in the form of an annual payment (“REC Payment”) specified under Customer Agreement.
