  • For gas furnace replacement rebate, must replace an existing gas, propane, oil, or wood stove heater/furnace. Existing air conditioning system not required.
  • For electric resistance replacement, must replace an existing electric heater/furnace. Fireplaces and new construction projects do not qualify.
  • Proof of old heater/furnace decommissioning required. This can include a before and after photo demonstrating removal of the old equipment or photo of the capped fuel line at location where decommissioned equipment was or is.
  • Minimum 17 SEER or 16 SEER2 
  • Minimum 9.4 HSPF or 8.0 HSPF2
  • Duel-fuel systems with gas heat as backup do not qualify.
  • Proof of building permit final

  • AC or heat pump systems not operating are not eligible for the rebate
  • New construction is not eligible.
  • Must complete all requirements as outlined in the HVAC Tune-Up Checklist by contractor.
  • Application Form must include all required information and be received within 60 days from date of HVAC tune-up. Valid for work performed on or after July 1, 2025 until funds are exhausted.
  • One (1) rebate per Silicon Valley Power utility service address every 12 months.
  • Incentive amount not to exceed cost of HVAC tune up.

Electrical Upgrades

  • Each dwelling unit is also eligible for one electric panel replacement add-on rebate
  • Must upgrade an existing main panel that is less than 200 amps
  • Panel upgrades must be done for the purpose of home electrification measures.
  • Properties must demonstrate completed installation of either a Level 2 EV charger or conversion of a natural gas appliance to an eligible efficient electric appliance.
  • Proof of building permit issuance
  • If temporary power disconnect / reconnect with Silicon Valley Power is needed, schedule through Permitting Online Portal.

New Circuits Prewired for Future Electric Appliances

  • All circuits must be wired to the source (wire and breaker) – up to 4 circuits
  • One circuit per eligible appliance: dryer, cooktop/range, electric vehicle charger, and water heater
  • There is no rebate for HP HVAC prewiring
  • Prewiring costs should be itemized by circuit on the contractor invoice
  • Example prewired circuit voltage & amperage: dryer (240V, 30A), cooktop/range (240V, 40-50A), electric vehicle charger (240V, 40A), water heater (240V, 30A)
  • Appliance prewiring cannot be paired with that same appliance rebate
  • Proof of building permit issuance

Solar Tune-up

$1,500

  • Solar systems not operating are not eligible for the rebate.
  • New construction is not eligible
  • Must complete all requirements as outlined in Solar Tune-Up Contractor Checklist.
  • Solar maintenance must be completed and the checklist must be signed by a CA licensed solar contractor
  • Application Form must include all required information and be received within 60 days from date of Solar Maintenance. Valid for work performed on or after July 1, 2025 until funds are exhausted.
  • One (1) rebate per Silicon Valley Power utility service address every 12 months.
  • Incentive amount not to exceed cost of solar maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Application Form must include all required information and be received within 60 days from date of purchase. Valid until funds are exhausted.
  • Qualifying appliance(s) must be installed and operating in an existing residence receiving electricity from Silicon Valley Power.
  • New construction is not eligible.
  • When applicable, obtain a necessary permit through the City of Santa Clara Permit Center. Please visit SantaClaraCA.gov/PermitCenter or call 408-615-2440. Proof of permit issuance must be submitted to receive rebate.
  • To qualify for income qualified bonus rebate(s), Silicon Valley Power residential customer must be enrolled in the Financial Rate Assistance Program and/or Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program prior to date of purchase. Income verification must have been provided within the prior 12 months.
  • Qualifying measures and rebate values are subject to change. If you are unsure if your project will qualify, visit SiliconValleyPower.com/Rebates or call 408-244-SAVE (7283), option 1, to verify your measure qualifies for a rebate BEFORE purchase or installation.
  • Qualifying measures and rebates may be eligible for Federal Tax Credits. Please visit energystar.gov/about/federal_tax_credits/non_business_energy_property_tax_credits for more information.
  • Offer is valid only on new appliance sales as long as funds remain available. Rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • One (1) rebate per Silicon Valley Power utility service address per measure every ten (10) years.
  • Silicon Valley Power reserves the right to verify both the new appliance sale and installation before a rebate is issued. Approval is at the sole discretion of Silicon Valley Power.
  • Applicant must apply online at SiliconValleyPower.com/Rebates. Alternatively, upon request, a PDF version of the Application Form may be available. Submit Application Form with a copy of the receipt and paid invoice or installation contract and any other specified required documentation to green@siliconvalleypower.com or mail to:

Required Documents

  • Completed Rebate application.
  • Proof of Purchase. Itemized invoices and proof of payment. The invoices must show the name, address, and telephone number of the licensed contractor, state license number (when applicable), installation address matching the Silicon Valley Power account, itemized installation costs, and itemized appliance/hardware information (including make and model number) that matches contracts and any financial rebates received. For the Main Service Panel Upgrade and Prewiring Circuit Add-On rebates, contract or paid invoice(s) must show the itemized and subtotaled cost of the electrical upgrade(s).
  • “Before” Photo of the previous appliance. Ensure the area surrounding the appliance/equipment is clearly visible.
  • Photo of previous appliance nameplate manufacturer label. Nameplate must clearly show serial number, model number, manufacture date, fuel type, and capacity (if applicable).
  • “After” Photo of new appliance/equipment installed. Ensure the area surrounding the appliance is clearly visible.
  • Photo of new appliance nameplate manufacturer label. Nameplate must clearly show serial number, model number, manufacture date, fuel type, and if applicable capacity, and certification mark from a nationally recognized testing lab (NRTL), such as Underwriters Labs (UL) or Intertek/Electrical Testing Laboratories (ETL) (if applicable).
  • Proof of City of Santa Clara building permit issuance (if applicable).
  • If the rebate payment is assigned to a third-party (such as a contractor or business), then a W-9 that lists the company’s name, address, and tax ID number is required. The W-9 must be signed within the last 12 months.

 Please Note

  • Rebates up to $600 will appear as a one-time bill credit on the Silicon Valley Power portion of the City of Santa Clara Municipal Utilities bill. Checks will only be issued for rebates over $600.
  • Please allow 2 to 3 billing cycles from submission to receive the bill credit. If your bill credit has not been received after three (3) billing cycles, please contact Silicon Valley Power at 408-244-SAVE (7283) or email green@siliconvalleypower.com.
  • A bill credit will only be applied to active accounts.
  • Landlords may participate in measures installed at properties receiving electricity from Silicon Valley Power under a residential rate schedule.
  • Discrepancies can invalidate the rebate application.
  • Silicon Valley Power is not responsible for items delayed or lost in the mail.
  • Silicon Valley Power disclaims any and all liability for any loss or damage which may arise as a result of the applicant’s participation in this program and makes no expressed or implied representation or warranty that the installation of the appliance will result in a reduction of your electric utility bill.
  • Offer void where prohibited, taxed, or restricted by law.
  • This program is subject to change or termination without prior notice.
  • The rebate amount cannot exceed the net purchase price of the appliance including any discounts, instant rebates or tax credits and does not include taxes or shipping costs.
  • Rebates valid for purchases made with United States currency only.
