Eligibility

• This rebate is available only to current Silicon Valley Power (SVP) residential customers. Landlords may participate if their tenant is an eligible SVP residential customer.
• Submit the rebate application within 60 days of the building permit final date or purchase date if no permit is required.
• Must be installed and operating in an existing residence receiving electricity from SVP.
• New construction is not eligible.
• To qualify for income qualified bonus rebate(s), Silicon Valley Power residential customer must be enrolled in the Financial Rate Assistance Program and/or Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program prior to date of purchase. Income verification must have been provided within the prior 12 months.
• One (1) rebate per Silicon Valley Power utility service address per measure every ten (10) years.
• Silicon Valley Power reserves the right to verify both the new appliance sale and installation before a rebate is issued. Approval is at the sole discretion of Silicon Valley Power.

Payment

• Gas furnace replacement: $3,000 per ton up to $10,000.
• Electric resistance replacement: $1,000 per system.
• HVAC add-on rebates: 
  • Blower Door Test Add-on rebate: $200 for every ACH50 score decreased from initial blower door test results
  • Insulation Add-on rebate: $1.00/sq.ft. up to $5,000
• The rebate amount cannot exceed the purchase price of the HVAC system plus installation and permit fees, excluding taxes, shipping costs, discounts, and additional incentives received by Customer (i.e., other rebates or grants).
• Only labor performed by a licensed or qualified contractor is eligible for rebate reimbursement, customer labor is excluded.
• Rebates are valid for purchases made with United States currency only (i.e., no store credit or credit card points).

Heat Pump HVAC Requirements

• For gas furnace replacement rebate, must replace an existing gas, propane, oil, or wood stove heater/furnace. Existing air conditioning system not required.
• For electric resistance replacement, must replace an existing electric heater/furnace. Fireplaces and new construction projects do not qualify.
• A “before” photo of the furnace in place, an “after” photo showing the installed HVAC heat pump, and the previous furnace nameplate photo are required.
• Minimum 17 SEER or 16 SEER2
• Minimum 9.4 HSPF or 8.0 HSPF2
• Duel-fuel systems with gas heat as backup do not qualify.

Add-On Rebates

Blower Door Test Add-On

• Must provide blower door test results from pre- and post- building envelope improvements.
• Must provide list of building envelope improvements made to achieve improved blower door test results

Insulation Add-On

• Rating requirements: Attic insulation ≥ R-44 or Wall insulation ≥ R-13
• The insulation rating must be on the receipt to qualify

Building Permit Requirements

• Proof of building permit sign-off/final is required to receive a rebate

Required Documents

• Rebate application
• Sales receipt must include purchase date, purchase amount, and brand and model number
• Sales receipt for materials, if applicable, must identify the item used for the installation and include purchase date and purchase amount
• Sales invoice from contractor, if applicable, must include invoice date, contractor’s license number, name and address of contractor, and price paid for installation
• Proof of building permit sign-off/final
• “Before” photo of the furnace in place, an “after” photo showing the installed HVAC heat pump, and the previous furnace nameplate photo.
