Beginning July 6, crews from Osmose Utilities Services will be conducting infrastructure assessments throughout Santa Clara on behalf of Silicon Valley Power (SVP).
As part of SVP's ongoing commitment to providing safe, reliable electric service, these assessments will include the use of drone technology and field evaluations of overhead and underground electrical infrastructure, including wooden utility poles, underground vaults, and surface-mounted equipment.
What to Expect
- Drone inspections of electrical distribution poles and equipment
- Ground-based assessments of utility infrastructure
- Clearly marked Osmose vehicles and personnel wearing identification, high-visibility safety vests, and hard hats
- Most drone inspections will take less than five minutes per pole
Why We're Doing This
These assessments help SVP:
- Identify potential issues before they impact service
- Improve system reliability and resilience
- Prioritize maintenance and infrastructure investments
- Support continued safe and dependable electric service
Privacy & Safety
Drone inspections are focused solely on utility infrastructure. No images of private property or individuals are intentionally collected. All operations comply with applicable FAA regulations and established safety standards.
