Silicon Valley Power wants to remind customers to stay alert for scams targeting utility customers. Scammers often use phone calls, texts, or emails to trick you into making payments or sharing personal information.
Here’s what to watch for:
- We will never ask you to pay your utility bill with a prepaid credit card, gift card, or third-party payment app.
- We will never ask you to make your payment at a grocery or convenience store.
- Caller ID can be faked. Scam callers may display a Silicon Valley Power or City of Santa Clara number.
- If someone asks for personal information or payment over the phone, do not provide it. Hang up immediately.
If you’re ever unsure about your account, call the City of Santa Clara Municipal Services Division directly at (408) 615-2300.
If you receive or suspect a scam call, hang up and report it to the Santa Clara Police Department at scpd.org.
Stay alert, stay informed, and help spread the word!
