Silicon Valley Power Offers $4,000 Rebate to Upgrade to a Smart Electric Panel

Post Date:07/21/2025 12:35 PM

Technician in front of smart panelSilicon Valley Power residential customers are eligible for a rebate of $4,000 when you upgrade your electric panel to a smart panel. Bonus incentives up to an additional $2,000 are available to income-qualified customers.

A smart panel allows you to monitor and control individual circuits and may include capabilities to notify you when equipment is running abnormally and needs service. Smart panels can also help avoid electric service upgrades, which is a benefit to you and to the utility. Transformers don’t need to be replaced with larger capacity transformers and you save by avoiding a main service upgrade to your home.

Traditional electric panels are sized assuming that all appliances may be drawing power at the same time. Adding load may mean a costly main service upgrade in addition to the panel upgrade. A smart panel monitors electric loads throughout the home and automatically pauses predetermined circuits when total consumption exceeds the home’s electric capacity and allows them to resume when electric usage drops below the maximum capacity.

This rebate is available to customers who install a smart electric panel to avoid a main service upgrade when accommodating additional electric load. To be eligible, projects must be initiated after July 1, 2025 and meet all program eligibility requirements. For complete program details, visit SiliconValleyPower.com/Rebates.
