On September 23rd 2014, City Council approved the retrofit of existing high pressure sodium and mercury vapor streetlights in the southern part of the city with more efficient LED streetlights. The streetlights were installed by Tanko Lighting in conjunction with Phoenix Electric, using funds budgeted by SVP for energy efficiency and streetlight upgrades. The project utilized LED lamps manufactured by Leotek Electronics and was completed in May 2015.
Below is a map showing the areas of the City that were covered under the first phase of the project, excluding El Camino Real, Stevens Creek Blvd, and the traffic safety lights at intersections. Phase II of the project will be scheduled to begin in the Spring of 2016, and will include the traffic safety lights in the area covered by the map below, as well as a portion of the lights in the Northeast part of the City. Details will be provided once a schedule has been established.
