Accessibility Statement

The Silicon Valley Power website has been designed to make the information accessible to all users, including persons with disabilities who use adaptive technologies to receive and disseminate information. We encourage accessible Website development and maintenance and invite your comments and suggestions, info@siliconvalleypower.com, for improvement of the accessibility of this site.

Standards Compliance
This website is Level A complying with all Priority 1 guidelines and most Priority 2 and 3 guidelines of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. This website also complies with all guidelines of the U.S. Federal Government Section 508 Guidelines.

NAVIGATION AIDS

Our website provides two ways to navigate through its pages: Access Keys and Skip Navigation links.

Access Keys
Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the website. On Windows, you can press ALT+ and access key; on Macintosh, you can press Control+ an access key.

The webpages define the following access keys:
1 Top of page (home)
2 Skip to main content
3 Sitemap
4 Search
5 FAQ page
6 Main nav
7 Second level nav
8 Third level nav
9 Feedback page

Because there might be some conflict with Accesskeys already designated by some software, Skip Navigation links are also included.

Skip navigation links
Skip Navigation links are used mainly for use with assistive technologies such as screen readers, and PDA's (Personal Digital Assistants). They allow readers to skip directly to the content or to a local sub menu. The Skip Navigation links are placed in the center at the top of the webpage. Although the links are invisible to a regular browser, assistive technologies will be able to detect them. An alt tag on the link gives a description of the links. Each link includes an Accesskey attribute (see above).

TEXT ONLY VERSION

We provide a text only version of our website. A link is located on every page in the right sidebar, on top of the Search field. A link is also located in the accessible top nav for those viewing our website with screenreaders, or you can reach directly here.

Scripting
JavaScript is used on the Home Page only and is used for visual image rollovers. All links have alt tags with descriptions of the links. All links can be followed in any browser, even if scripting is turned off.

Images
All content images used on this website include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include null ALT attributes. Complex images include LONGDESC attributes and links to text-only descriptions to explain each imag to non-visual readers.

Visual Design
This website uses cascading style sheets (CSS) for visual layout. If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.

Accessible PDFs

To read a PDF file, you need Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 (or later) on your computer. Acrobat Reader is available from Adobe. If the Adobe download site is not accessible to you, you can download Acrobat Reader from an accessible page. If you choose not to use Acrobat Reader, you can have the PDF file converted to HTML or ASCII text by using one of the conversion services also offered by Adobe.
