Chiller Replacement Earns
Four-Month Payback with SVP Rebate

Integrated Device Technology (IDT) is a Santa Clara headquartered company that creates semiconductor solutions to deliver a variety of products and services for networking equipment. In an effort to improve energy efficiency and to reduce costs, the company recently replaced its 200-ton chiller. This chiller was originally installed in 1978 and operated around the clock to cool an office building and a clean room facility.

By replacing the old chiller with a new, high efficiency unit, IDT was able to reduce its energy usage by nearly 1,000,000 kilowatt hours per year, which is roughly fifteen percent of its electric bill. Based on this level of energy savings, IDT received an incentive of more than $100,000 from Silicon Valley Power's Customer Directed Rebate Program. This rebate reduced the payback period on the purchase of the new chiller to less than four months.

Other customers can receive rebates for replacing their chiller systems.
