Hometown Advantage
Silicon Valley Power (SVP) was established in 1896 and has a long, proven track record of providing customers with stable, reliable energy and dedicated service. How do we do this? For starters, we're a not-for-profit, customer-owned organization with a large investment in generation and transmission. Local control gives us active management of costs and debts. Our job is simply to provide you with the power to run your business-and the resources to save money while you do it.

SVP is ranked nationally in the top quartile for reliable energy supplies among electric utilities. During the California Energy Crisis, the State experienced seven rolling blackouts. Customers of Silicon Valley Power were excluded from all of them.
We have established a Power Reduction Pool that asks our largest customers to reduce their energy use during emergency periods. And we have a new agreement with California Independent System Operator (ISO) that blackouts due to regional power shortages will not be required for the City of Santa Clara.
To better assure reliable power supplies, we have taken two key actions. A new 230kV transmission line has been installed to increase interconnection capacity by 40%. And in 2004, our new Don Von Raesfeld Power Plant (147 MW) will be online and operational.
Competitive Electric Rates
Customers of Silicon Valley Power enjoy electric rates that are thirty-five to forty-five percent lower than PG&E rates. This energy savings translates into lower prices per square foot each month for building owners.
