On April 11, 2019, Silicon Valley Power was recognized with a Safety Award for the utility’s outstanding achievement in workplace safety at the Northwest Public Power Association’s (NWPPA) Engineering and Operations Conference. This is the second year Silicon Valley Power has won this esteemed award.
NWPPA is an international association representing and serving over 150 public and people’s utility districts, electric cooperatives, municipalities and Crown corporations in the Western U.S. and Canada. The 2019 NWPPA Utility Safety Awards evaluated public power utilities based upon incident experience, utility size and total injury and illness rate of the previous year. This year, Silicon Valley Power was awarded second place in its respective group against peer groups of comparable size based on work hours. This is an improvement from the utility’s third place allocation in 2018. Groups are differentiated based on the number of company-wide hours of workplace exposure.
Safety has been, and will always be, one of Silicon Valley Power’s core values. The organization will continue to prioritize both workplace and community safety in the years to come. Learn more about the utility’s safety values in the 2018 Strategic Plan.
