Expanding Santa Clara’s Dark Fiber Network
Silicon Valley Power (SVP), the City of Santa Clara’s electric utility, provides low‑cost and reliable power, making it an ideal location for commercial customers. With new upgrades to the SVP Fiber Enterprise program, SVP’s dark fiber leasing service, Santa Clara is the prime marketplace for data centers, communication companies, high‑tech firms and schools to thrive and grow. SVP recently installed a 432‑fiber cable, a feature important for commercial customers like data centers, which need support for their cloud‑based services. Expanding the dark fiber network both improves the information highway within Santa Clara and keeps that highway active.
SVP Fiber Enterprise provides unlimited bandwidth resources for data centers and businesses. The dark fiber routes connect to over 300 facilities, including 47 data centers and colocation facilities in Santa Clara. The 151-mile cable network runs throughout Santa Clara, covering places other carriers do not reach. This extensive network helps to support Silicon Valley’s reputation as a world leader in communications technology.
